July 7th,2010Just completed a book cover illustration for an e-book & print
I just completed a book cover illustration for an e-book & print. It is a novel about the real life Hero Boudicca who was a queen of a Celtic tribe who led an uprising of the tribes against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire. Illustrated with pencil & paper & painted using the computer. This was a fun project and the subject matter was right up my alley... Now if I can just get someone to give me a Conan or Related book cover to work on next. Sample can be seen in the Illustration section. Gerry Brophy |
June 25th,2010Just completed 2 New Vend Cards for Candy Company
Just completed 2 New Vend Cards for Candy Company. They Required illustrations of their product in a colourful & fun design to help promote the visibilty of the product on the shelf. These were used at the recent Chicago Candy Expo and will be appearing in vending machines and bulk foos stores in the near future. I love to illustrate cartoons and fun environments. Theres something to line artwork and flat colour that always looks better than the 3d renders. I always start with pencil sketches to develop the ideas and don't use the computer till I have to. This is an important step as Line work done in illustrator is very neat but if you start to draw in illustrator you will have a very stale and sanitised look rather than fun. Samples can be seen in the graphics section. Gerry Brophy |
June 19th,2010Just completed Recyling Animated & Interactive Project
Just completed Recyling Animated & Interactive Project for Recycling Company in Austrailia. This was a fun but challlenging job. They required an interactive presentation for the web to help teach school children in austrailia about recyling waste into the correct bins. Paper products into the blue bin, Cans & bottles into the yellow bin and food or green waste into the red bin. It involved the character design then animation. Action Script 3 programming. Music & Sound Effects editing. This started with storyboarding in Storyboard Pro with all hand drawn frames. Once we refined the project The final art was prepared and then the programming. It's nice to switch disciplines from traditional to computer art and then programming and sound. Get to use all parts of your brain and keeps me eager for more projects. Sample can be seen in the interactive section. Gerry Brophy |
